BLOG HOP AND SOME TIPS

The Quilting Gallery hop winner of my giveaway is....
Mr. Random drew #10
Marla over at Marla's Crafts blog
and she said...

She won...6 Patterns and can now work on
following those directions!

Thanks to each of you who left me a comment.
I responded to all that had an email...
There were lots of NO-REPLY bloggers, sew if
you didn't get a response from me...that is why.

Question Mark Icon Clip Art

My question for comments was...
What is your biggest challenge when using a pattern?

"selecting colors/fabrics"  was the most common answer!

Sew here are my suggestions.

If you select color and fabrics you love...it usually works out! Look in your closet...it is full of colors you love together!

Walk into a store full of color....like "Pier One Imports"
What colors are calling out to you?   What do you look at first!

Find a pattern you like, make a single block with different colors/fabrics. Turn the blocks into "mug rugs".

Go to a LQS and ask the owners if you can pull fabrics to play with color and prints.  And if you need opinions...they will certainly help out there. But, just remember its your opinion that counts.

Sign up to get catalogs from on-line fabric stores.  They have great groupings of fabrics.

Get on PINTEREST...Search for "color combinations"...you will be amazed!  I have a board called "Crayon Box" where you'll see some beautiful combos like this...

Check out ETSY for scrap bags.   Lots of quilters sell their scraps and you can create blocks using the scraps.   I'll have some coming soon to my Esty Shop.   But for now, you can check out my fabrics, kwilts and bags to see what I've put together for some fun color combinations.

I hope you enjoyed the hop and will come back to see me soon!
Till then may all your Pleasures be Kwilty!

WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER

Where did the summer go?
It's November and the holidays are
coming at us...full speed!

This past summer I took a bunch of photos of my
antique kwilt collection, in various locations.
(using a Cannon point and shoot camera)

Many of these kwilts are family heirlooms
Some I found in antique store for a steal!

All are beautiful...All have a story
I wish I knew all the words; all the history.
Ready? Lots of photos coming your way.

I went to a garden party...
actually I hosted this one for some gardening friends.
Here is my deck and back yard.

My pergola (with swing)
is a favorite setting for my kwilt photography.

I do have the history on this beauty!

By now my hubby's arms are aching!
Who needs to lift weights
when there are beautiful kwilts to photograph?

And my favorite place for summer photos was
at a shelter house at Blacklick Woods Metro Park
in Reynoldsburg, OH

I was so excited to find the swinging window shutters
for this photo opportunity.  It was quite a job
to get these hanging by myself.

Back at my deck again, some close ups of kwilts & flowers.

I have a lot to learn about photography
but I'm having a really fun time in this journey!!

I'm hoping Santa hit the lottery and will
bring me a new camera with lots of bells and whistles!
