BLUEBIRD PARK

I have been collecting Kate and Birdie
"Bluebird Park"  for awhile.

Sew...isn't this panel sweet...just like
everything about "Bluebird Park" fabrics.
My Autumn woods "text" fabric coordinates with it.

Yummy blues and such fun hedgehogs
along with the charm pack that started it all!

All stacked up
and waiting to tell me
what they should become

Sew tell me what is your "go to pattern" or "tutorial"
for a smaller kwilt?

CHARLEY HARPER and ME

I luv me some Charley Harper designs
His fabric is flying around my sewing room.

I bought this bundle last fall...

My Kwilty Partner in crime, Kathy Guenther,
made me this "Sew Together Bag" for Christmas!
I luv the bag and oh yeah, the red bird sings to me!

I made a Noodlehead Supertote
for a Charlie Harper swap on Instagram.
It was hard to let this one go!

But never fear, I received this very unique
and original tote in return!
The little round bird is sew sweet!

I am working with a local garden and hope to be a
featured artist in 2016 and show my kwilts.
God knows I have enough BUT
I want to hang some "modern" designs!

Red-Letter Day" pattern by Sue Pfau
 "Quilts From Sweet Jane
is perfect for some CH love!
Sized 42 x 50 for wall hanging.

These blocks will use the browns, blues, reds, gray and gold
hmmmm???? you say!

Yep...the colors do work together...see!
I now have it ready to kwilt!

I still have all these gorgeous CH fabrics...

The design is now brewing up in my head!

With all this Charley Harper-ing I am
happy to include them as part of the challenge

If you could pick a favorites Charley Harper animal.
which one would it be?

BLACK MOUNTAIN PETE

Black Mountain, NC (just outside Asheville, NC)
is an amazing place!
Beauty of the mountains surround it
and artists' works fill it!

My friend on IG @stephanieh1971
told me about this YARN SHOP...

My time here began with a great lunch here!

Hand Crafted Beer...mmmmm

Right next door was a FABULOUS YARN SHOP!
 Get ready to drool!

Stylin by the fibers!

Take note of the folks sitting and knitting....
do you see him?

Meet Pete, 83 years young
and has been stitching since the 40s....
He explained that he learned very young, then
the war, job and marriage became his priorities.
This day he was making a lace shawl
Everything he makes he gives away
especially items for charities...

The owner, Donna Farrow, winding my yarn
I found in the GREAT sale area!
What a sweetheart and made everyone feel like yarn-ing!

Just across the street was Black Mountain QUILTS...
No fabric there..handmade quilts and other goodies.

A few door down....oh yeah!
More alcohol...

I didn't have enough time to visit all the unique shops
Sew...Black Mountain...I will be back!

A YARN ABOUT BLOWING ROCK, NC

 Blowing Rock, North Carolina
is one of those quirky, artistic towns.
While visiting...I became UNWOUND!
as in Yarn Shop!

Boutiques set in courtyards and
surrounded by pretty gardens and trees

Every inch of "UNWOUND" was filled with eye candy!

A sweet section for baby projects

Or you can sit and stitch and bitch!

Lots of completed projects all around the shop.

Downtown Blowing Rock is a shopping destination.
Filled with lots of unique shops, antiques and beautiful flowers.
It's a place for festivals and music and fun!

The actual "Blowing Rock" is up in the mountains
Read about the legend of Blowing Rock is here
Its an Indian tale of Cupid-Romeo and Juliet!

On the way back to my mountain retreat
via Blowing Rock Road...
there were beautiful waterfalls

setting the background for more mountain memories!

I hope you are enjoying my vacation posts.
I am working on some projects now and
will have posts about them very soon!

SEW ORIGINAL...WAS

Another LQS in Boone, NC was indeed...
"Sew Original"
They had me at....Bernina!

I always ask permission to take photos.
There was some concern about local designer's
kwilts on display, Sew today...
I'll be showing you what I think makes this shop
"Sew Original"

LABELS...
Fabric shelves have designer / mfg labels!
How cool is that!

Not to mention
TULA, Denyse Schmidt
and Anna Marie Horner

Plenty of MODA

I found the B-W  Cotton and Steel
It was Terrific Tuesday...

Tucked away in a corner was more fiber fantastic-ness!
Yarn is now my second obsession!
